Video cameras

Video and still cameras are used in numerous ways for exploration in freshwater bodies and in the oceans. We offer equipment for operation in the deep sea and in shallow water, and inspection cameras for use in boreholes or wells. Here, we record the images both analogue and digitally. The systems cooperate perfectly with our telemetry, thus providing the user with a live image on deck.

We will be happy to advise you on how to "package" your camera to meet your underwater deployment needs (0 m - 6,000 m).

DNV certified Sapphire Windows up to 1,100 bar
The ever increasing demands under water or under high pressure on optical components makes the use of sapphire indispensable. In this course, a method for certifying sapphire glasses was developed in collaboration with DNV. Oktopus GmbH is now capable of supplying optical viewing ports for cameras, lasers or other optical components for a wide range of purposes, down to full ocean depth (1,100 bar).

As our customer, you are free to choose the dimensions and shape of your window, up to a diameter of 100 mm. It is also possible for you to select a coating to meet your specific demands (e.g. for enhanced transmission) from an extensive range. Installation in plastic, aluminium, stainless steel, duplex or titanium pressurised casings, for example, is possible.

And did you know: Oktopus is unique in this field.

Ethernet Camera
The built-in camera sensor offers high light sensitivity with its pixel size of 3.45 um x 3.45 um. On the one hand, this enables a comparatively low-noise and clear picture in dark environments. On the other hand, this advantage also enables frame rates above the otherwise usual 30 frames per second without the shorter exposure time making the image unusable. Especially in applications with a lot of motion, frame rates of 60 fps are an important feature. The combination of this frame rate with an achievable glass-to-glass latency of less than 150 ms at full HD resolution makes this camera predestined for applications in which the camera is used to control devices.

The camera is addressed via Ethernet and can thus be easily integrated into almost any network-based data transmission path.

The streamed video image contains an overlay, parts of which are freely configurable. At the same time, the video stream can be stored locally on the camera's integrated memory at a high data rate and without an overlay, if desired.

Resolutions smaller or larger than Full-HD as well as frame rates above or below 60 fps are possible on request.

We will be pleased to send you data sheets and further information on request.
